Fix You

As part of a Professional Practise module in school, I had to choose an article and create an illustrated double page spread. I chose a piece from New Scientist about personality disorders.

This being one of my favourite pieces of work I have produced in University thus far, I actually managed to smash it out 8 hours before the deadline. It's amazing what can be accomplished in the space of a couple of hours really.

CULT

I finished my response to the "Culture" brief. I think I could have taken it a bit further, perhaps a few modifications to the originals and a few more sexy prints, but all in good time. Here's what I ended up with:
The idea grew from mainstream western culture as "fear culture". Spreading fear = making money, I'm sure you get the picture. Particularly here I've made reference to the fashion industry and perceptions of beauty. I have a few more ideas up my sleeve related to faux magazine covers, so watch this space.

Nomio

Some of my graphic work has been used in the layout for my friend Jak's blog/zine Nothing of me is Original.

Blake Abstract

I created a book of abstract imagery based on verses from the William Blake Poem "Auguries of Innocence".
A Robin Red breast in a Cage
Puts all Heaven in a Rage.

A Skylark wounded in the wing,
A Cherubim does cease to sing.

It feels really good to have begun the academic year with a succesful project and some work that I am really very happy with, and wish to continue to develop. Incidentally, I had accidentally stumbled across the poem when I really needed a direction for this project. William Blake, you are the one.

Culture

The prominent project for University at the minute is all about "culture" in what ever form I wish to interpret that word. Isn't that just great? It's not like I'm never going to be able to settle on one solid idea because I'm completely and utterly indecisive, or anything.

The Annual Overhaul

It is usually around autumn time that I find myself creating some form of new blog. In the past it has stemmed from sheer boredom or a rush of inspiration to create a new design and have a fresh start, this rush later waning until the entire thing drives to a complete halt. This time, however, my domain name Voiid expired because I have been too preoccupied with working and employing a lack of financial responsibility. Expect to see a regular update of my current projects and the other particular things that keep me going.
